Atlanta Municipal Court Alternative Sentencing Program

Restorative Justice

Restorative justice views crime as more than breaking the law. it also causes harm to people, relationships, and the community. So a just response must address those harms as well as the wrongdoing. If the parties are willing, the best way to do this is to help them meet to discuss those harms and how to bring about a resolution. Other approaches are available if they are unable or unwilling to meet. Sometimes those meetings lead to transformational changes in their lives.

Alternative Sentencing

MWG has developed an alternative sentencing program that challenges participants to identify their talents, discover psychological barriers that hinder them from maximizing those talents, and determining what skills they can develop. Participants are then given a problem to solve in their community using the talents they have identified and skills they have developed.

Atlanta Municipal Court

MWG developed and manages one of the Atlanta Municipal Court's three alternative sentencing programs. Participants who have struggled from drug addiction, homelessness, and cyclical poverty have been given a second chance through the intense  restorative justice program designed by Mason West.
